Jungle Safari in Royal Bardia National Park
Welcome to Bardia National Park in Far Western Nepal! The park is located the Karnali district and is known for its fragile ecosystem and many endangered species of wildlife. This is the largest park in lowland Terai, and it covers 968 Sq km. The park was developed to preserve the ecosystem and safeguard the Bengal Tiger and its prey species.
Bardia is the home of endangered animals such as the Royal Bengal Tiger, Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, Swamp Deer, Asiatic Elephant, Marsh Mugger Crocodile and Irrawaddy Dolphin. A large part of the park is filled with forests of Sal Trees, as well as grassland and savannah.
The longest river of Nepal, the Karnali River flows through the park, and is one of the reasons people go to the park. This gives an option of White Water Rafting to the visitors a few hours’ drive up the river.
The main route to Bardia National Park is a one-hour flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj (5,31 km) and then a 2½ hour jeep drive to Thakurdwara.
However, alternate routes would be a 14 hour drive from Kathmandu or Pokhara, 10 hours drive from Chitwan, 8 hours drive from Lumbini and 5 hours drive from Suklaphant Wildlife Reserve to get to Bardia.
